Monday 6th October :

The Football Association Ltd have declared Saturday FA Vase tie between Cullompton Rangers and Willand Rovers to be "Null & Void"
This is due to an unacceptable error in application of the laws of the game by the match referee, the referee is likely to have charges bought against him.
As the game was declared null & void it will now be re-staged as opposed to being re-played and will now be played back at Cullompton Rangers AFC on Tuesday 14th October, 7.45pm with any replay at Willand on Tuesday 21st October.
The previously announced replay - Willand Rovers v Cullompton Rangers on Tuesday night (7th October) has therefore been cancelled.

Wednesday 8th October :

University of Exeter v Exeter City

All proceeds to Cardiomyopathy.

An attendance of just over 2,000 saw the annual Varisity game at St James Park with the Exeter City team beating the University side by a 3-1 margin. The bumper crowd of students will have helped boost the fund-raising efforts and provided a unique occasion for football at our level.

Wednesday 8th October :

We have been passed a statement by Bodmin Town AFC today that indicates that their manager, Alan Carey, has stepped down with immediate effect due to family commitments. His replacement is Darren Gilbert who was the assistant to Carey and now takes on the managerial position.

Official League Statement issued at 19.00 hours by the Secretary on behalf of the board.

The league were informed at 12.45hrs today, via third parties that Newton Abbot AFC, would not be fulfilling todays fixture away at Wadebridge Town. The board have instructed the Secretary to issue the prescribed punishment in full and once these charges have been issued to the club a further statement will be made regarding the match in question. The next statement is likely to be issued on Wednesday morning. (15th October)

MATCH REPORTS FROM ALL THE GAMES

Saturday 11th October

Premier Division : Probably the main talking point of todays Premier matches involves a game that did not take place ! Newton Abbot failed to make an appearance at Wadebridge Town with rumours circulating regarding a players "strike". Whatever the reason the consequences are likely to be very serious indeed. Getting back to the games that did take place Buckland Athletic are back in pole position in the table after an impressive 2-0 win away at Tavistock. This was the lambs first home defeat and their first defeat in the league since the opening day. Both sides finished with 10 men in a feisty affair but the Langsford Park club did not see returning star Glynn Hobbs in action as his transfer did not go through in time and he will make his debut on Wednesday instead. Previous table-toppers Ivybridge Town were beaten 3-0 away at Plymouth Parkway where Chris Wright bagged a first half hat-trick for the Bolitho Park club. Dartmouth who are 3rdc and Torpoint Athletic who were in 4th both also lost with the Darts going down 2-1 away at St Blazey and Torpoint losing 4-2 away at Launceston. The Clarets leap-frogging their visitors into 4th spot.

Bodmin Town continue to show no ill effects from their change of management as they won 2-1 away at Liskeard Athletic today, Saltash United had a useful 1-0 home win over Cullompton Rangers and also winning at home were Newton Abbot Spurs who bounced back from recent defeats to pick up maximum points from a 4-1 win over Holsworthy. At the bottom things look very tight with Witheridge notching their first win of the season by a tight 1-0 margin away at Elburton Villa who remain in trouble along with Falmouth Town who went down to a 2-1 defeat away at Clyst Rovers.

Division 1 East : The Eastern section saw little change as 4 of the top 5 sides all gained wins today with the only side losing being Bovey Tracey who were in action at Exeter Civil Service. The Foxhayes club winning 2-1 and leap-frogging their visitors into 3rd place. Leaders Galmpton Gents had to work hard for a narrower than expected 2-1 win at home to Exmouth Town whilst 2nd placed Stoke Gabriel had a bigger than expected 6-1 win away at the University of Exeter. Appledore kept themselves firmly in contention with a good 2-0 away win at Axminster Town.

Budleigh Salterton bounced back from their midweek defeat at home to the Royal Marines by winning 2-0 away at bottom club Liverton United, Danny Minto notching the winning goal. The Marines followed up that win with a 2-1 victory at home to Teignmouth this afternoon at Endurance Park.

Alphingtonwere made to work hard for the 3 points by lowly Ottery St Mary with the Chronicles club eventually winning by a 2-1 margin and two games ended in 2-2 draws with Crediton United and Buckfastleigh Rangers sharing 4 goals between them at Lords Meadow and at Simmon Park Okehampton Argyle drew 2-2 with Totnes & Dartington.

Division 1 West : Only Newquay and Porthleven from this mornings top 8 notched victories today with draws being the common result amongst the front runners. Porthleven won 2-0 away at Plymstock United and Newquay won 5-1 away at Vospers Oak Villa, thanks in part to a Shaun Middleton hat-trick, to move closer to the leading sides. Leaders Penzance were held to a 1-1 draw away at 5th placed St Austell and 3rd placed Callington Town met 4th placed Truro City Reserves at Marshfield park where the result was also a 1-1 draw to retain the status quo. Dobwalls lost ground as they went down to a 0-2 reverse against Foxhole Stars at Lantoom Park.

Hayle ended new boys Godolphin Atlantics recent good run with a 3-1 win away at Henver Road, a result that sees them leap-frog their hosts. Camelford moved up the table after a 3-0 win at home to Mousehole and Penryn Athletic pulled away from the lower reaches by winning 4-1 at Wendron United.

Wednesday 8th October

Premier Division : Bodmin Town showed no sign of ill affects from the news that boss Alan Carey has stepped down (see "News" above) as the Priory Park club recorded a useful 3-2 win at home to Saltash United tonight. All the goals came after the break with both sides having chances but in the end the points went to the home side who climb 3 places to 8th and leap-frog the Ashes whom slip down 1 place to 9th. At the other end of the table Holsworthy climbed off the bottom of the table after they recorded their first league win of the season, 2-1 at home to Witheridge who are now the only side in the division yet to record a victory.

Division 1 East : The Royal Marines football team came of age tonight as they notched a very impressive 2-1 win away at reigning Champions Budleigh Salterton. This was the Robins first home defeat this season and only the 2nd since the league was formed. Ironically both goals were scored by Richard Hope who can number in his former "civilian" clubs a spell as a player at Greenway Lane. Budleigh had Danny Hall notching their solitary reply.

Division 1 West : Truro City Reserves recorded their 2nd win at Treyew Road in a week this evening as they beat high flying Dobwalls 2-1 in a close game. The win lifts the "White Tigers" 3 places in the table and upto 2nd spot in the table and confirms that their young squad are quite capable of challenging at this level.

Tuesday 7th October

Premier Division : Buckland Athletic & Ivybridge Town served up a match well worthy of its "top of the table" billing in front of a healthy crowd at Homers Heath tonight. The match ended with honours even from a 3-3 draw after the Ivy's had taken the lead 3 times only to be pegged back on each occasion. Ben Smallridge fired the visitors in front with the only goal of the first half but Paul Froude levelled 10 minutes after the break. Ritchie Hammet restored the lead on 68 minutes but within 4 minutes the sides were back level after Karl Green scored. Ivybridge then went in front for the final time with 11 minutes left through Joe Truelove and in stoppage time the Bucks levelled through Matt Beers free kick. The two sides meet again in 7 days in the Throgmorton Cup and if the entertainment is repeated it will be a tie not to miss. In the other game tonight Launceston bounced back from their FA Vase exit at the weekend by beating Newton Abbot Spurs 3-0 at Pennygillam and climbing to 5th in the table. All the goals came in the first half with Andy Sargent scoring twice and Charlie Blair once.

Monday 6th October

Division 1 East : Galmpton Gents opened up a 6 point lead at the top of the Eastern table after winning an entertaining game 3-2 away at plucky Crediton United. Two goals in a minute early on from Ian Mayer and Dan Rankin sent the visitors on their way but Matt Trenaman reduced the arrears after 32 minutes. Galmpton restored their 2 goal cushion through Rankin a minute before the break but the home side scored again 7 minutes from time through Ben Spiers to set up a tense finale.
