Ground Hoppers Report from Paul of Surrey :

    SWP 1 East
    Crediton United 3-4 Bovey Tracey
    Adm inc prog £4

Brilliant game and the quality of play far belied its step 7 status. Creddy never led but were never out of it, even at 2-4 when Bovey were playing some terrific stuff, having earlier missed a penalty. A beautifully taken late third for Creddy heralded the Alamo but the visitors defended well under pressure and just about saw it through. Full marks to both teams though, excellent entertainment and a shame there had to be a loser.

The tree-lined ground also belies its step 7 status – fully enclosed, floodlit, two generous lengths of cover and a good-sized seated stand. Nice pasties in the snack bar too. Friendly folk all round, spent a fair chunk of the match having a good yarn with a Yorkshireman in exile down this way.

Didn’t venture into (or even see) the clubhouse as it didn’t open until after the game – I’m guessing it’s shared with the leisure centre next door but could be wrong. Tried the town’s two GBG pubs instead – the nearby Crediton Arms, which had a decent choice of four, and, back in the town, the Mitre, with a slightly disappointing selection of two. My one in each were both in good nick.

Nice club, well worth a visit even if you don’t see a game half as good as this!
